Tuition & Other Fees and Payment Methods

Overseas students

Students from Hokkaido University (HU)’s partner institutions

No application or enrollment fees apply. The tuition fee is 14,800 yen per credit. This fee will be waived for students who enroll in the program as exchange students from partner institutions with which HU has concluded a memorandum of understanding on mutual tuition waivers. Some courses, however, will require additional fees (e.g., for accommodation during field training); check the syllabuses of the courses you wish to take for details. Students must inform the relevant office at their home institution about their application before submitting their online application.
Dormitory fees depend on the desired period of stay as per information provided by applicants to the Hokkaido Summer Institute Section. For more information on dormitory fees, see the Daily Life webpage.
Dormitory fees are payable by credit card, and the fees that will be required for courses will be collected in cash (Japanese yen) after students arrive in Japan. Accordingly, students should bring the necessary cash amount for fee payment.

Students from non-partner institutions

No application or enrollment fees apply. The tuition fee is 14,800 yen per credit. This means the tuition fee for a two-credit course, for example, would be 29,600 yen. Some courses require additional fees (e.g., for accommodation during field training); check the syllabuses of the courses you wish to take for details.
