Leading and Advanced Materials Chemistry and Engineering I (supramolecule chemistry and application to catalysis)

Image Picture

The present lecture will deal with synthetic methodologies for the preparation of calix[n]arenes and resorcin[4]arenes functionalized with phosphine or N-heterocyclic carbene moieties and their applications in homogeneous catalysis. After a brief overview of the general properties of phosphines and N-heterocyclic carbenes based-ligands followed by selected examples of derivatization of calixarenyl and resorcinarenyl macrocycles, emphasis will be placed on their contemporary use in emerging and promising areas such as coordination chemistry and catalysis of industrial interests.
